Zambia Army Shortlisted Candidates 2023 Update
The government has completed the shortlisting of qualified candidates for military service. On February 24, 2023, the names of the shortlisted candidates will be published in the print media.
During a press conference in Lusaka today, Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA stated that the shortlisted applicants are currently undergoing security and verification of details.
Mr. LUFUMA stated that frantic efforts are being made to release the names of those who have been shortlisted on time. The Minister has urged applicants to be patient as the government completes the hiring process.
Over 200,000 people applied to join the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force, and Zambia National Service, outnumbering the available 5,000 slots.
Is Zambia Army Shortlisted Candidates 2023/2024 Out?
According to the government, over 5,000 candidates have been shortlisted for commissioned and non-commissioned positions in the Defense Forces.
Defense Minister Ambrose Lufuma stated that a total of 236,000 candidates applied for positions in the Zambia Army, Zambia National Service, and Zambia Air Force.
Mr Lifuma, on the other hand, maintained that there are 5,000 available slots for recruitment in the three defense services.
Mr Lufuma said today at a media briefing in Lusaka that the names of successful candidates will be published in the Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia, as well as on the Ministry of Defense website, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday next week.
According to the Minister, the shortlisted candidates are expected to report to the provincial centers on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
He stated that the third phase will consist of shortlisting and publishing successful candidates after they have passed medical, physical, and aptitude tests.
Mr Lufuma stated that prospective military candidates will have a duty to defend their country’s sovereignty and will be required to deploy both within and outside of Zambia.
The Minister thanked the youth for their patience and perseverance throughout the recruitment process, and wished the successful candidates’ luck as they begin military training.

- Scroll down the page and select one of the shortlisted candidates.
- Use any PDF reader to open the downloaded file.
- Enter your name or application number in the search bar.
